nichestudios' Green Policy

Graphic design is often solely associated with developing work that is beautiful, innovative and celebrated for its creativity and benefits achieved in the context of advancing business. Yet nichestudios company is also committed to promoting professional and ethical standards for the design profession, and to encouraging greater understanding of the fundamental challenge of creating a balance between economic well-being and environmental responsibility. We strive to become trusted advisors on responsible communication techniques to serve clients effectively. Over the past few years we have gained valuable insight and resources for transitioning our studio to utlizing environmentally responsible practices, largely in part to our work with clients like Everpower Renewables, the LA Conservation Corps and as a member of AIGA, and their Center For Sustainable Design.

nichestudios, in demonstration of our dedication, operates within the following guidelines:
• Onsite, we utilize the Green Power option offered by LADWP.
• All in-house printing and copying uses 100% PC recycled paper. To reduce paper consumption, policies have been adopted that develop more comprehensive and systematic digital files for record copies of documents; and we encourage electronic communication over print communication.
• Whenever possible, we procure green office, packaging and cleaning supplies manufactured from recycled materials, or products that assist in recycling practices.
• We aim to use only consultants and vendors that utilize green-e energy and those that also offer environmentally responsible options.
• We conduct thorough research into available and appropriate "green" alternatives for our clients' projects
• We encourage our clients to opt for 100% PC recycled paper, soy-based ink printing and green production techniques for all print collateral projects. We also try to plan ganging up smaller jobs with medium sized print projects with similar color and paper choices in an effort to reduce paper waste.

We have a responsibility as designers and consultants to educate and encourage "green" corporate and personal responsibility. It makes perfect sense and doesn't require much effort. Doing so can only make the world a cleaner and safer place.
